On Monday Ahmad Khan Rahami, a 28-year-old United States citizen of Afghan descent, was arrested after a shootout with police.
A few hours later, the New Jersey State Police posted additional photos on their Facebook page showing Rahami clean-shaven and with a shaved head and face. He had a bloody bandage on his right arm with his torso covered in a blanket.

Authorities said they do not yet know if the bombs in Elizabeth and Seaside Park are connected to the bombing that injured 29 people in the Chelsea area of Manhattan Saturday night.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and local converged on an apartment near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey, early on Monday, saying Rahami had lived at that address.
Rahami is believed to be the man seen in surveillance video at both the scene of the explosion on Manhattan’s West 23th Street and the scene on West 27th Street where the unexploded device was found, a police source said. A robot named “Jinx” was being used to dismantle the bomb at the time of the powerful blast and inadvertently detonated the device.
“The robot that went in to disarm it, cut a wire and it exploded”, Bollwage said.

The impact occurred in the Chelsea neighborhood and the device had been left in a backpack placed in a trash can near a train station and a bar, Bollwage told reporters earlier.
