In his talk with lawmakers, Singh said one person had been killed from pellet shots in the most recent violence in India’s only Muslim-majority state, bringing the total number of deaths from the weapon in Kashmir to seven since 2010.

Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan who have fought two wars over its control since 1947 when British rule of the subcontinent ended.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was very concerned over the situation in the valley.

We don’t need a third party’s involvement to address the situation that prevails in Jammu and Kashmir.

Yasin Malik said that Rajnath Singh and other Indian leaders had time and again issued statements congratulating their forces, encouraging them and putting blame on the oppressed instead of oppressors. First they said they had information about Burhan (Burhan Muzaffer Wani) and then they say they had no information about Burhan.

The high-level security review meeting was attended by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, senior bureaucrats, police officials and those from state and central intelligence agencies, besides top officials of para-miliatry forces.

The Home Minister said the only place in democracy for the Kashmiriyat is the place of humanity. The government will make sure they are treated at the AIIMS. Mehbooba appealed to youths and their parents and families to help the government restore peace. He warned that Pakistan was far from pure when it came to matters on the Indian side of Kashmir.
