October 11 forecast: Sunday brings sunny skies across the area

As a strong cold front moves across the South Plains this morning, winds behind the front will pick up from the northeast. Clear skies and light winds allow temperatures to fall into the upper 30s to middle 40s!

The big story this week with weather is the more than 20-degree temperature change from Monday to Sunday. Skies remain clear overnight with lows in the upper 40s. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. Monday is even milder, with temperatures in the lower to middle 70s. The high will reach a mere 60 degrees.

A secondary push of cooler air arrives late in the week.

Scattered showers and storms are expected to develop along the advancing cold front.

Saturday should be mostly sunny, as well, with a high near 57 and a low around 38. A lot of sunny skies are in store, which is good news for a few, but for others a drought still continues. This moisture will be used tonight as fuel to produce a few showers and thunderstorms this evening.

A lingering shower is possible through around 8 a.m. Tuesday, but skies will be clearing after that.
