Oculus Home revamp is incoming for the Gear VR headset
VR enthusiasts have rejoiced about the news, particularly due to the last sentence which confirms that Oculus VR will not re-implement the DRM in the future.

Price and accessibility will surely factor in, as there’s already an installed base of 40 million PS4 game systems and the VR add on will be available – starting sometime in October – for as little as $399 U.S.
That seems to be the state we’re back to now, with Oculus still keeping its fingers crossed that you’ll go out and buy a Rift and play games on the Store with its official hardware. It was pointed out that the headset check appeared counter to prior comments by Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey that the company would not block people from modifying games to work with other headsets.
Nomura expects Sony’s PlayStation VR to ship 700,000 units this year, followed by 500,000 HTC Vive units and 300,000 to 400,000 Oculus Rift units.

The Samsung Gear VR is probably one of the most affordable and user-friendly virtual reality headsets you can find in the market.
Today, LibreVR told Motherboard that now that Oculus has removed the headset check, he has reverted Revive to the version which didn’t facilitate piracy, and has deleted the code that included those changes from Github, where he’s distributing Revive.

The notes for the Oculus patch, though, don’t mention this change of heart, although Polygon reached out to the company, which confirmed that this is indeed the case and that the company won’t use any more hardware checks as part of DRM ever again. “In those cases, they are going to be coming out on other platforms aside from Oculus in the future”.
