In development since around 2012, the Oculus Rift VR headset allows users to experience advanced VR gaming and more by using the headset with a comparable PC.
And while it’s definitely the bleeding edge of current virtual reality technologies, buyers will undoubtedly have to pay for first generation hardware’s snags, issues and disappointments too.
Seth Macy is IGN’s weekend web producer and just wants to be your friend. Talking about the availability, special edition headsets can be obtained from the 1st of February.
Oculus has announced, via its official blog, that it will be opening up pre-orders for the Oculus Rift starting on Wednesday.

It will be taking orders from 08:00 PCT (16:00 GMT) but has given no guidance on price or when it will ship units. “You don’t get charged until we ship – no deposit lock-in, no bonus pressure”, said Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey. The kit is set to arrive with two free games in Lucky’s Tale and EVE: Valkyrie, the latter of which is available as part of the pre-order offer. The game will be playable through the Xbox One controller that will be included with the Rift’s bundle. The most recent developer kit, the DK2, sold for $350, and Luckey stated that the consumer Rift will carry a higher price tag.
