Oculus Rift pre-orders for $599, will begin shipping 28 March
As announced earlier this week, Oculus opened pre-orders for the Oculus Rift, its new virtual reality platform, on Wednesday (January 6), and it won’t come cheap.

Previous reports had suggested that the headset could ship with the Oculus Touch motion control.
Second, the first batch of pre-orders will ship as early as the 28 of March and some purchasers are reporting their ship dates as late at May. Oculus, which Facebook bought in 2014 for US$2 billion, began accepting pre-orders for the device on Thursday. In September of previous year, Oculus VP of Product Nate Mitchell said the headset would cost “at least $300”. Oculus said on Monday that the Rift, which comes bundled with the games “Lucky’s Tale” and “EVE: Valkyrie”, could be preordered from Wednesday.
Oculus VR, the company behind the new virtual reality gaming headset Oculus Rift, has officially started taking preorders, promising to give users a glimpse into the future. Consumers can wait until February to buy a headset/PC bundle for $1,499 or get the headset today and tack on the $900 PC later, according to the company website. For this price, you get the Oculus Rift itself, an Xbox One controller, Oculus Remote and a sensor.
The VR headset needs a compatible PC to let you enter in the VR world, so if you do not own one yet, add that as the additional cost. Many developers have pledged support for the VR headset including: Insomniac Games, Square Enix, Harmonix, Ready at Dawn, and more.
