Because the VR headset won’t run on any computer, you will have to own a PC to power Rift and finally enter the virtual reality playground.

Oculus will sell the Rift on its website and ship it to 20 countries, including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and much of Western Europe.
The Oculus Remote features a trackpad and a few buttons to help you navigate VR experiences and 360 videos, browse the Oculus store and play games.
On the content side of the equation, preordered systems will come bundled with Lucky’s Tale by Playful and CCP’s EVE: Valkyrie. For comparison, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 start at roughly $350 with bundled games.

All those who preorder now will also have a spot to preorder the Oculus Touch controller, which has been delayed, when it is launched later this year.
While $600 bucks may seem like a steal for what the Oculus Rift is supposed to offer, it puts the headset out of the range of most non-gamers that were intrigued by the idea.
A compatibility tool is available for users to check if their current PC is VR ready.

Oculus says it will be certifying recommended PC rigs with an “Oculus ready” sticker, and that once the Rift is out customers will be able to buy new PCs that come with a headset included.
