In development since around 2012, the Oculus Rift VR headset allows users to experience advanced VR gaming and more by using the headset with a comparable PC. We’re also implementing changes that improve hand pose recognition. Oculus previously revealed that the device will include an Xbox One controller, remote, and the game Lucky’s Tale. Still, whether that will be enough to tempt would-be buyers remains to be seen. As the first of these slated to hit the market this year, the Rift’s price could help influence how other companies will sell theirs.

“Oculus Ready PCs are certified to meet recommended system specification and have been tested by Oculus”, they say.

Pre-ordering the Rift doesn’t mean you’ll be charged the moment you place your order and placing an order won’t lock you into a purchase. We’re also yet to hear a solid release date for the headset.

Preorders for the Oculus Rift started today, and with it comes our first glimpse at what it will cost to own the face-mounted virtual reality display.

Facebook acquired Oculus for $2 billion in 2014.

Purchasers will also have access to EVE: Valkyrie at no extra cost and Oculus is promising that the game library will have over 100 titles by the end of 2016.
