Oculus to take preorders for Rift from Wednesday

Additionally, Rift creator Palmer Luckey will be holding a Reddit AMA Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. EST to answer fan questions. Oculus disclosed a setback last week when it said the Touch, a pair of controllers created to work with the headset, would be delayed to the second half of the year.

Reuters mentioned that the Oculus’ VR headset will come bundled with the multiplayer space combat games, “Lucky’s Tale” and “EVE: Valkyrie”.

The announcement, made on the Oculus Rift blog this morning, is more like a heads-up regarding the more detailed announcement that will made when pre-orders open. On Monday, Oculus VR announced that it would start taking pre-orders for its virtual reality headset on Wednesday morning. As soon as more details are announced about the pre-ordering of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset we will keep you updated as always.

Another gadget that will be released this year by Oculus is the Oculus Touch, a motion controller.

It’s been a long voyage for the Rift which was originally released to developers after a highly successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2011, albeit in a much more primitive state.

Some have claimed that the hardware will be the device that will bring virtual reality into the mainstream.

Pre-orders for the Oculus Rift will begin at precisely 8am PST (4pm GMT) on Wednesday 6th January 2016.

The company, which Facebook acquired in 2014, isn’t saying when buyers will actually receive the Rift.

We knew it was on the way. Sony though is expected to release the PlayStation VR and the HTC Vive in 2016. When the Rift will launch, it will be shipped with an Xbox One Controller. Early reports put the hardware somewhere in the region of a new console, at around $300-$400, though we await Oculus’ official confirmation on that front.
