According to the new odd even auto rule in Delhi, Vehicles registered with even number will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
As per the policy, odd-numbered cars will be allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on Delhi’s roads while even-numbered vehicles will run on the other days – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. With 50% of Delhi’s private vehicles taken off road, the public transport needs to be made more efficient. Some mischievous people may even use a fake number plate, so as to use a single vehicle throughout the week.
“I feel odd-even cars number ban is a good idea”.
In a radical step, the Arvind Kejriwal government has announced that private vehicles bearing odd and even registration numbers will be allowed to ply only on alternate days starting January 1 next year. “It is their responsibility (Delhi Police) to implement the law enacted by the government”. Well, right now, any kind of a solution may help Delhi’s air revitalize but is it really a smart move?
Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain said that government has started a series of meetings to roll out strategy on the issue and DMRC will also be asked to increase its working hours to accommodate a huge crowd of passengers. Only emergency vehicles such as fire tenders and ambulances will be exempt, he said.
“Odd-Even formula will also be applicable on all ministers and officers”.
“I consider there’s demand to develop a fresh thought to take care of traffic and air pollution”, Yuquan said.

The temporary measures are seen as a desperate attempt to cut down alarming pollution levels during the winter months as cooler air and clouds trap pollutants creating a smoggy layer over the city. “We can not say today whether any particular idea will work or not but we should definitely be open to new ideas if they are aimed at controlling pollution”, he said.
