Odell Beckham Jr: ‘I’m fine… I sleep like a baby at night’

Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham received an $8,681 fine from the league for striking Bills safety Duke Williams in last Sunday’s game, a blow that was part of accusations from Buffalo players that Beckham “likes to throw cheap shots”. The National Football League does not normally confirm any fines on such plays until later in the week.

Beckham will appeal the fine.

An unidentified Bills player who wasn’t even in uniform took a swing at Giants defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins in the fourth quarter after a play ended in front of the Bills’ bench.

“No, it doesn’t bother me”.

“I get punched every single game … or whatever it is”.

Apparently, the events did bother Beckham if just a little.

The Bills held Beckham Jr.to just 38 yards on five catches and clearly had him frustrated throughout the game. We’re playing football. These are grown men. “This being my job, I want to be the best”. “Obviously I was disappointed, because I think he’s beyond and above a lot of that stuff, and I think he’ll put it behind him”, Coughlin said. “I sleep like a baby every night”.

The moral of the story is the Giants want Beckham to keep doing what he’s doing.

But if you slow the play down, as one Twitter user did, it definitely looks like Beckham retaliated to the clean block by throwing a punch to Williams’ head. “I wouldn’t want a [defensive back] breaking up the ball every single play and him dancing all in my face as well”. But at the end of the day, we’re out there playing football.

Get pinched or slapped by an opponent?

Players saw on the Giants/Redskins film from the previous week that Beckham does this often after the whistle. Honestly, like I said, I came here to do whatever this team needs me to do. “I don’t remember getting any flags during the game. People hear so much about me, they’re like, ‘Oh, I can make my name off of him.'” Beckham spoke several times this offseason and in training camp about the importance of controlling his emotions and not letting teams take him out of his game.
