Accident Investigation Division officers responded to the scene and said on Sunday morning that they believe based on their preliminary probe of the crash that high speed played a role. The Sergeant had finished a regular work shift at 6 p.m, but it’s not clear where he was coming from or going when the crash occurred. Wilczynski said the crash happened near a curve and raised the possibility that Ali may have fallen asleep at the wheel, but stressed there is no evidence so far to support that conclusion. Lamonte Gambrell said. Ali worked his way up the ranks.
