Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong speaks with the media… Olridge was on his way to work Sunday at about 1 p.m. when the encounter with Clark happened. Clark’s arrest is connected to Olridge’s death. The nature of the encounter was not immediately clear. Olridge had the capacity slither to a house to get help, the uncle told the station.

“Please continue to pray for this police department”, Armstrong said Sunday as news crews gathered outside the hospital where Olridge died. Clark surrendered to authorities without incident after police arrived to the scene of the shooting.

According to court records obtained by Breitbart Texas, other prior charges against Clark include: possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture or sell; driving on a suspended license; violation of probation; contempt of court; criminal trespass; and, disorderly conduct.

And in July 2011, Officer Tim Warren was killed while responding to a shooting at a Memphis hotel. Brownlee declined to immediately provide further details or say whether additional charges would be filed in the case.

A male suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting, Brownlee said. Armstrong says Olridge died at the hospital after being shot multiple times at a home in a neighborhood of single-family residences in the suburb of Cordova.

His death comes only two months after Officer Sean Bolton was fatally shot.

Olridge is survived by his fiancée, who is four months pregnant.

The suspect’s sister told CNN affiliate WMC her brother was washing his vehicle and got into an argument with Olridge.
