Well. This post kind of highlights the difficulty we have in keeping up with what Microsoft is doing these days: Today, the Office team revealed various enhancements coming to Office across multiple platforms, including Mac, iOS, Android and the web.
The company last month introduced Skype for Business (previously Lync) into Office 2016 on the Windows desktop, at the time promising that a similar Office Online integration was planned for later this fall. The extension will simply sit alongside the address bar in Chrome, allowing users to quickly and easily access Office Online apps and documents. As Microsoft starts to focus more on cloud-based computing with Office 365, enabling users the ability to access these services quickly, and from anywhere, is a key part of the plan. This month brings a few welcome updates to Office Online, as well as Office Mobile for Android and Office 2016 for OS X.

Android users haven’t been forgotten: the latest Office update is said to reduce footprint by 40 percent and better the sign up/in process. In addition, Microsoft has also announced a new Chrome extension that allows Chrome users to create and open Word, Excel, PowerPoint files using office Online from within the Chrome browser.
