A shooting that involved officers reportedly took place a short time later near Kuebler Boulevard in Salem.
The Oregon Department of Transportation diverted traffic at Kuebler Blvd. A detour has been set up: Southbound traffic is being directed to Kuebler, and then to Commercial and then back to I-5.
That detour is expected to continue for several hours.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, Fugate said.
