The video shows the moment Golubski approached the vehicle, not knowing if the driver posed a danger.
“We’re all really proud of Chris”, said Detective Sgt. Dean Van Winkle, a spokesman for the Grandview Police Department.
The officer tried to pull over an SUV for a traffic violation, but the driver sped off. Eventually, the driver lost control of the auto and it flipped.
Golubski watched the collision but couldn’t immediately locate the driver.
A nurse who witnessed the crash also helped stabilize the man until ambulance crews could arrive.
When Golubski found the driver, the man had no pulse.
“He was in a law enforcement role trying to do that job and obviously things changed drastically into a lifesaving role, we feel like he did an outstanding job”, Vanwinkle said.
Police say he had no pulse and he was struggling for air. “He assessed him and assessed the situation and started chest compressions”.
