Officer shot armed suspect during home invasion
The second suspect, identified by police as 46-year-old Christopher Covey of Groveland, is being charged with armed home invasion. “The officer fired several shots, striking the suspect twice”. Police said the suspect was conscious and treated at the scene before being airlifted to a hospital in Boston.

“Preliminary investigation, including a statement from one of the victims in this case, indicates that when Officer Kieng arrived at the scene the victim took him to the front door of the residence, ” Lowell police said in a statement.
Police say that the victims were an elderly couple – an 88 year old man and 65 year old woman.
The home’s two residents, who were assaulted during the invasion, were also taken to the hospital with injuries that aren’t considered to be life threatening, police said.
Both have lengthy criminal records, police said.
When Mass. State Police and Lowell Police executed a search warrant on the Pine Hill Street home, they found a large amount of cash and marijuana.
“Based on the preliminary evidence, Lowell Police believe the victims of this incident were specifically targeted”, police said.
