A public viewing for Holder is taking place today until 6 p.m.at the Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York at 110-31 Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens.
Rev. Al Sharpton surprised many when he announced that he would be delivering the eulogy at the funeral of Officer Randolph Holder, the NYPD officer who was brutally shot last week in the line of duty.
Officials say Monday divers meticulously searched Manhattan’s Harlem River for five days before discovering the weapon Sunday. Howard has been arrested at least 28 times since he was a 13-year-old for crimes like drug possession, robbery and now a murder too. It came hours after Holder’s fiancée was quoted in the New York Post as saying the officer detested Sharpton. Maybe the family doesn’t understand his history with the NYPD. Afterwards, his body will be flown to his native Guyana for burial.
Sharpton’s reversal echoed a situation past year when he was initially expected to eulogize Akai Gurley, an unarmed black man killed in November by a police officer.
Howard used the bike to flee police responding to a shootout in the East River Houses, and was riding the two-wheeler when he encountered Holder and partner Omar Wallace. About 100 police officers volunteered to do the work, especially aimed at finding the fatal bullet.
“He was chasing a male with a gun, which is one of the most unsafe things that you can ever do as an officer, and unfortunately we lost him”, Commanding Officer Mundo said. Law enforcement officers also paid tribute to Holder at the National September 11 Memorial in lower Manhattan on Thursday, October 22, 2015.

“It is clear though after reading several articles that some union leaders and some others want to turn your and your pastor’s noble efforts into some kind of confrontation or sideshow”, he said.
