Officers Do Something Incredible For Fallen Deputy’s Daughter On Her Wedding Day

‘He said, ‘There’s a whole line of us, ‘ and right as he said that is when the next officer cut in and I just broke down’. Her father, Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Kent Mundell died in 2009, when Mundell was just 16. Don Jones, the family friend who walked her down the aisle, started it, and then it grew. Courtesy Angela Lyons Kirsten Mundell is seen dancing with one of four law enforcement officers who showed up to take part in the extremely emotional dance.

Mundell though did not plan on what happened during the father-daughter dance at the reception for her wedding, which occurred over the weekend, KOMO-TV reported. It was an entire line of her dad’s former colleagues, wanting to make the night even more special.

Even though the fallen deputy couldn’t be present at his daughter’s wedding, he was there in spirit, exemplified by an empty chair on which the family placed his uniform jacket and photo with some flowers. “It meant a lot knowing that we were able to save a spot for him and knowing that I felt him there I knew he was there”, she said.

“It was pretty overwhelming, “Seattle photographer Angela Lyons told the Daily News of the heart-wrenching moment she caught entirely on camera”. She had thin blue lacing on her dress that symbolizes her father’s profession. According to Lyons, she was happy the photos turned out since everything was blurry because of tears in the face of such moving moments. Kirsten and her family are seeing them all and I know the kindness means a great deal.

Wedding guests say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

And the people who had known Kent Mundell for years learned a hard lesson, life continues, but in some ways it doesn’t.

Mundell called it the “best wedding surprise ever”.

“People need to know that their family’s lives go on but they’re still affected by it every day”, Kristen said.
