The United States, US, government issued a statement on Wednesday to renew their support for Nigeria and other countries in the fight the end the menace of Boko Haram insurgency, saying that much still needs to be done to ensure that the people of Nigeria and its neighbours lived in peace.
Ahmad Salkida, the journalist known to have some access to the leadership of Boko Haram, shares his views on Buhari’s answers and the location of Chibok girls.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) explains that President Muhammadu Buhari’s responses at the Presidential Media Chat were not only embarrassing but also further exposed his undemocratic character as an unrepentant tyrant who has no regard for the rule of law and the self-worth of Nigerian citizens.
The president said he had no firm intelligence on where the girls were or the state of their health, adding: “That is the honest truth”.
Boko Haram is an Islamist militant group that has widely spread in Africa, especially Nigeria.
“This government will not consider the matter concluded until the terrorists have been completely routed and normalcy restored to all parts of the country that have been adversely affected by the Boko Haram insurgency”. Thousands have been killed and kidnapped since the jihadists launched waves of armed attack and suicide bombings in 2009.
“Our crackdown on corruption will continue to be vigorously undertaken”, he said.
He vowed that nobody, including his cabinet ministers, would be spared in his anticorruption crusade.
He disclosed that some perceived leaders of Boko Haram wanted to negotiate with the Federal Government, adding, however, that the government insisted on establishing the true leaders of the sect before agreeing to negotiate the release of the girls and on what terms.

The girls were taken from their dormitories in the northeastern town of Chibok in April 2014, and the event sparked worldwide outrage and a global campaign for their freedom.
