Following a phone call between Hollande and Putin this week, the Kremlin said Russian Federation and French military and security services would work together to confront “terrorist groups” in Syria.
“The ship is less than half the size [of a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier] and it doesn’t have the deck space to accommodate as many aircraft or launch and recover those jets at the same rate”, the National Interest said.
That was the message that he conveyed to Russian president Vladimir Putin earlier in the week, in Turkey, he said.
French Ambassador Francois Delattre said he was working “to prepare a text that will be short, strong and focused on the fight against our common enemy, Daesh (IS)”.
Russian officials are claiming that the speed with which they have hit the Islamic State group – also known as ISIS or ISIL – in recent attacks has forced field commanders to evacuate dead jihadi militants’ corpses from the battlefield at night and dump them in mass graves.
It also urges Member States to intensify efforts to stem the flow of foreigners looking to fight with Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and to prevent and suppress financing of terrorism. Russia’s defense minister said its warplanes have fired cruise missiles on militant positions in Syria’s Idlib and Aleppo provinces.
He added that Russian warplanes destroyed about 500 fuel tank trucks that were illegally transporting oil from Syria to Iraq.
British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon confirmed that one of the Royal Navy’s most advanced warships, the HMS Defender, will provide air defence cover for the Charles de Gaulle as it deploys to the Gulf.
“We combine these leaflet drops with very low altitude passes of a few of our attack aviation, which sends a very powerful message”, Army Col. Steve Warren, a spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, said in Wednesday from Baghdad during a teleconference at the Pentagon.

Although all polls, even Western-sponsored ones, in Syria, show that Bashar al-Assad would easily win any free and fair election in Syria, the USA government demands his removal, before there can be any cooperation with Russia’s war against jihadists in Syria.
