Officials erred on Bills’ final play against Pats

The game Sunday is a key showdown between two teams with 5-5 records.

The Patriots capitalized by going up 10-3 with a six-play, 60-yard drive capped by James White’s 20-yard touchdown catch.

“It feels good to win”, said quarterback Tom Brady following the victory.

Coach Rex Ryan, though, believes his mobile signal-caller will be healthy enough to suit up Sunday against the frisky Kansas City Chiefs.

“Yeah, we’ve lost a lot of guys, and we’ve lost quite a few guys over the last three weeks”, Brady said. “I don’t know the particulars of what they call things or whatever”. Although Taylor stayed in the game, he was clearly in pain as time ran out. “The officials were absolutely right on that”, Ryan said.

An inadvertent whistle negated what could have been a touchdown catch by New England’s Danny Amendola. It’s pretty challenging to find things on tape that you like.

The Patriots lead the AFC East by five games with six to play. Now that Manning is no longer able to play, much of the narrative has still focused on Brock Osweiler and the potential similarities to Brady usurping Drew Bledsoe in 2001. “That’s what championship teams do”.

No one on offense is allowed to get hurt and I’m entirely serious.

Taylor was up and down against the Patriots on Monday night, completing 20-of-36 passes for 233 yards in the game.

With the wind chill temperature at 21 degrees at kickoff, both teams struggled on offense. There were other oddities in the game, including Brady’s fourth interception of the season; another was negated by offsetting penalties.

Instead, the Pats made a decision to line up an offensive lineman at fullback – effectively declaring their intention to run the ball – and determined they were better off killing 30 extra seconds than taking an honest shot at moving the chains.

Old friend Aqib Talib has two scores himself, while fellow cover man Chris Harris ran back a pick, as well, and third corner Bradley Roby returned a fumble. McKelvin bobbled another punt before the Bills’ final possession, but fell on the ball at the 16-yard line. New England’s Jonathan Freeny picked it and rumbled 5 yards before he lost the ball and it bounced out of bounds.

New England beat Buffalo, 20-13, in Gillette Stadium.

Even the referees were sloppy.

Early in the third, Brady rolled toward the right sideline before throwing downfield to Amendola. “We just have to look forward and move past it and going out beating K.C”. Because of New England’s missing pieces, the Bills were able to devote a safety to shade over Gronkowski for most of the game, limiting his effectiveness.

And another streak was snapped, too. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed a field goal after making 31 in a row. He was also held to just one rushing yard on four attempts. Moreover, there’s still the question of whether Vollmer is better suited at left tackle over Cannon and if rookie guard Tre’ Jackson will have a role when he returns (perhaps this week) from his knee injury.
