Eighty-five people died, and many others were injured, when killer Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, 31, mounted a 19-tonne lorry onto pavements at high speed and ploughed through crowds celebrating France’s most prominent public holiday on July 14.

Instead of wearing their traditional red-and-black striped shirts, they’ll be wearing a white shirt with no sponsor on it, and in the sponsor’s place is a heart that’s made up of the names of all of the victims from the attack.

Rennes has subsequently followed suit, wearing a shirt with the same design, which the club unveiled with Nice-born player Andre Benjamin modelling it.

Nice and Rennes open the new season at the former’s Allianz Riviera stadium on Sunday, exactly one month after the attacks.

As well as asking fans to wear white, Nice added: ‘Nothing will ever be the same but we need to get back on our feet’.

After the match, the shirts will be auctioned with money raised donated to victims’ charities.

A tribute to those killed will be flashed on the big screen in the 85th minute and will be repeated at every Nice home game this season.

The names of the 85 victims of the Nice attacks will be printed on a heart shape on the club's shirt
