OH rap festival marred by drug-laced candy incidents
A MI man has been initially charged with felony drug trafficking after 24 people were sickened at a central OH rap music festival when they ate candy laced with marijuana ingredient THC. Authorities said that just one or two pieces could get an individual high, but some consumed entire packages, which contained roughly 20 pieces.

The Mansfield News Journal quoted a Richland County sheriff’s major as saying the concertgoers were given packets of what appeared to be candy that had a “very, very high dose of THC”.
All of those who were sickened were treated with an overdose antidote naloxone at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, and all are expected to be fine, WXYZ/WTTE reported.
The rap music event dubbed “The Last Weekend on Earth” felt that way for a few unlucky buzz-seeking fans.
Matthew Lee Gross, 28, of Ypsilanti, Michigan was arrested and charged with trafficking in drugs.
However, Lt. Joe Petrycki, commander of METRICH regional drug task force, says that the use of the word “overdose” is too strong since the victims didn’t lose consciousness. He said THC usually gives people a sense of euphoria. They only felt exhausted, among other unusual symptoms.
The edibles given to the concert goers looked like the popular candy, Nerds.

WEWS-TV reported the person giving out the lollies was a man wearing a grey baseball cap with a red visor and a black T-shirt with a marijuana leaf on it. The Ohio band Machine Gun Kelly is scheduled to perform as the headliner.
