The number of workers unemployed in OH in July was 278,000, down 13,000 people.

Non-farm employment grew by 12,705 over the year. Still, the number of OH workers unemployed last month is higher than it was a year ago when there were 267,000 jobless workers state and the unemployment rate was 4.7 percent. However, that increase wasn’t significant enough to warrant a percentage increase in the unemployment number. The total nonfarm employment for June was dropped by 4,200 jobs, to a net gain of 16,100. Construction saw a loss of 3,600 and mining and logging lost 300 jobs.

As the nation gained jobs during the month of July, Kansas lost them.

Arkansas’ June unemployment rate was revised from 3.8 percent to 3.9 percent, the report said. Since last month, Kansas private sector jobs decreased by 4,600.

“I daresay that if we’d put the $2.7 billion into highway construction, we’d have more jobs, and we wouldn’t see the trend right now where unemployment has gone to 4.1 percent”, he says. The Grand Island area rate reached 3.5 percent in July, compared with 3.4 percent in June; the figure was 5.8 percent in July 2015.

So far this year, the labor force in Kansas has decreased by 7,023 people. Government employment, at 782,000, increased 4,700 as gains in local (+3,100) and state (+1,700) government outweighed losses in federal government (-100).

The biggest job gains were in the health care and social assistance sector, which added 6,400 jobs. Seasonally adjusted data provide the most valid month-to-month comparison.
