Woods’ body was found in a wooded area along Middleboro Road in Washington Township a month later on November 9, 1992.

Prosecutor David Fornshell says authorities believe he was shot in the back of Perone’s store.

Perone has worked in the furniture industry for more than 30 years, and was owner of a store called Just Living Rooms when the murder occurred, according to reports.

Perone, 67, previously denied involvement in Woods’ slaying.

Detectives from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office went to Phoenix, where Perone now resides, and with the help of the Phoenix Police Department and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, they served a search warrant for Perone and arrested him.

Investigators determined that he had been shot in the head and dumped in the woods. They in recent years have used newer forensic techniques to develop evidence.

“Theres been a tremendous advance in the use of DNA technology and other types of technology over the past 10 to 15 years, ” Fornshell said.

A sheriffs official called it a coincidence that Perones arrest was announced on the 23rd anniversary of Woods disappearance.
