The Columbus Dispatch reported Friday the university has obtained a trademark for the name “Urban Meyer” from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

In a Cleveland.com poll – which was also the same poll distributed to Big Ten writers for their choice of the best conference team – Buckeyes Ezekiel Elliott and Joey Bosa were chosen to finish first as offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively. Ohio State’s players tell you that. The quarterback injuries were unfortunate, but everything else aligned perfectly in the second half of the season. That honor belongs to one-time third string quarterback Cardale Jones. But as Ohio State proved last year, it’s a team that truly subscribes (and thrives) to the “next man up” philosophy. Unforeseen problems inevitably arise, though. This year, bad luck might strike elsewhere.
“Obviously, when you lose the big defensive end, that everyone knows where he’s at, that’s a concern”, Meyer said. “This is one of those experiences where we correct what happened, we talk about it, we learn from it and then we move on”.
