The video shows Tensing approach the black auto and ask DuBose for his license and registration.

He pulled over DuBose when he noticed his auto didn’t have a front license plate, which is illegal in Ohio, authorities said.

The next court date was set for August 19.

The rally appeared peaceful. Tensing was immediately terminated and turned himself in. That includes medical and security assessments. His funeral program said he worked on his music and developed other artists in his studio. Tensing said he fired one shot, as mentioned by the report.

Dubose’s killing came less than a week after a routine traffic stop in Prairie View, Texas ended in the death of Sandy Bland.

Nichols says Kasich is confident that justice would be served in the case. “I just thank God that everything is being revealed”. “We’re prepared as we can be”.

“This office has probably reviewed 100 police shootings, and this is the first time we’ve thought, ‘This is without question a murder, ‘” he said.

“Again, the front tag”, Tensing said.

Dubose resisted getting out of his vehicle, and tensing shot him in the head. Deters slammed Tensing’s statement that he was dragged by the auto and instead said that Tensing fell backwards after shooting Dubose in the head.

“I’ve been doing this for over 30 years”, Deters said during a press conference. When you see this, you will not believe how quickly he pulls his gun and shoots him.

This story has been corrected to show that Tensing was charged with voluntary, not involuntary, manslaughter. “I want them locked up”, his mother, Audrey DuBose, told local reporters. Courtesy Hamilton County Prosecutor.

A white University of Cincinnati officer was indicted for murder charges Wednesday after he shot an unarmed black man during a July 19 traffic stop.

The University of Cincinnati said it fired Tensing after his indictment. Mr Du Bose died instantly, Mr Deters said.

Tensing was indicted Wednesday in the July 19 death of 43-year-old Samuel DuBose.

The University of Cincinnati on Wednesday closed its main campus in anticipation of grand jury action in the case.

“I thought it was extremely unprofessional”, he said.

Authorities have said Tensing spotted a auto driven by Mr DuBose and missing the front licence plate, which is required by Ohio law.

Stewart Mathews, the officer’s attorney, said an indictment was unwarranted but expected nevertheless “given the political climate”.

DuBose’s family credited the video with bringing them one step closer to justice. The officer then asks again about Dubose’s license. Reported by the prosecution, using the footage as evidence, the auto didn’t start moving until after Tensing had already shot DuBose, and that it was likely the result of his body slumping forward, putting his weight on the gas.

Deters said when he saw the video of the shooting, he was shocked. There was no immediate explanation for the change in plans. DuBose’s family had also been pushing for its release. “It would completely harm his memory if people were to take that route”. He plans to discuss the investigation Wednesday afternoon.

Deters played body camera footage of the traffic stop shooting that appeared to contradict Tensing’s version of what happened.

“It was so unnecessary for this to have occurred”, Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters told a televised news conference in Cincinnati.

“He wasn’t dealing with someone who was wanted for murder – he was dealing with someone with a missing license plate”, the prosecutor told reporters.
