Ohio Gov. John Kasich Announces Presidential Run

Unless he gets a quick bump in opinion polls, he may not qualify for the first GOP presidential debate, set for August 6 in Cleveland, even if it is taking place in his home state.

Toledo Blade editor David Kushma noted that Kasich’s “tenure at Fox News, where he honed his heartland persona, helped make him media-savvy”.

State Sen. Jay Hottinger, R-Newark, said Kasich is the candidate he will support as long as he remains in the race. GOP Vice Chairwoman Tracey Winbush said. “Not by dividing each other, but by staying together with our eyes on the horizon”. “At the same time being in Congress, [balancing] the budget. Kasich is dedicated to getting our massive deficit and government spending under control”.

“I realized that goal was more important than party”, Kasich said.

Critics have also said that his policies have hurt local government and schools within Ohio.

Huntsman withdrew from the 2012 race after not winning a single primary.

Kasich is the 16th notable Republican to join the bustling contest for the nomination.

From Ohio, Kasich goes straight to New Hampshire for a three-day campaign swing.

Kasich is popular in Ohio. “At the end of the day, if he can raise the money and he’s in a crucial state, he’ll be in for at least a little while”.

But Albert Edward, of Cincinnati, questioned whether Kasich has enough support or name recognition to win.

As for his political career, Kasich was a state senator, wowing the nation by getting elected at the age of 26. She accompanied Kasich on a June 24 trip to Iowa and traveled to Columbus for his announcement. “I promise you”.

John Kasich, 63, may not have a signature hairstyle like Donald Trump, 69, and he may not be related to former presidents, like Jeb Bush, 62.

“The American Dream is pivotal to the future of our country”, he said.

When asked at a Koch Brothers-sponsored conference previous year why he was one of the few Republican governors to expand Medicaid, he responded, according to a Politico article titled “John Kasich’s Anger Management”, “I don’t know about you, lady. And I believe I know how to work and restore this great United States”. “Those are the one-two punch of what any governor should be doing, and he’s not doing well, and he’s had five years to get it right, and he’s failed”. The 78-year-old McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, was shot down during an aerial bombing run over Hanoi. “He has been there and done that, and I haven’t seen that in the other candidates running for this office”.

In a speech that described the woes of Americans anxious about lost jobs, health care costs and crushing student debt – and that made a point to reference the specific worries of minorities – Kasich also tried to strike an optimistic note. “He’s just not providing lip service”, Derickson said. “I think the country’s America”. While in that position, he says he helped President Bill Clinton balance the federal budget.

He said the deal would bring about “buyer’s remorse”.
