Ohio Gov. Kasich is 16th notable entry into Republican race
Fox News has said the top 10 performers in an aggregate of national polls will be on the Cleveland debate stage. Kasich is currently in 12th place, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, taking only 1.5 percent support.

To do well, Kasich needs to jumpstart his campaign with a successful launch from Ohio State University.
He has scheduled town hall events in New Hampshire next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, he’ll head for South Carolina and Iowa. Two Michigan appearances are set for Saturday.
He continues to rely on taxpayer-financed security from the Ohio highway patrol while out of state.
Another noticeable change in the account was the new graphic which is most likely his campaign design. He rose to chairman of the Budget Committee and points frequently to his role in achieving a balanced federal budget under former President Bill Clinton.
“I think what’s going to appeal to folks, and independents in particular, is that he’s not someone who plays politics”, Schrimpf said. “It’s what you do”.
Late past year, Portman had himself been considering a presidential run.
“The truth is that Ohio’s economy has continued to struggle”, Mr. Pepper said.
Mr. Pepper said Mr. Kasich’s balanced budget was accomplished through cuts to local governments and schools.
We Are Ohio, the group that led the opposition efforts that overturned Republican-backed public employee collective bargaining reforms four year ago, has organized a morning rally near the building where Kasich is making is announcement.

The man who once figuratively told lobbyists to get on his bus or he’d run them over and who called a police officer an “idiot” helped erase a budget deficit projected at almost $8 billion when he entered office, boost Ohio’s rainy-day fund to a historic high and seen private-sector employment rebound to its post-recession level.
