Police were dispatched to the woman’s address, in the 800 block of East Sandusky Avenue, just after 3 a.m. on a call from her to 911 reporting that her son was not breathing.

The Pilkingtons’ neighbor James Breaston was home, across the hall from the family, when Gavin died in April. After the second death, police say they had suspicious, but Brittany’s statements led officers to think it might have been natural.

Police in Bellefontaine, about 60 miles northwest of Columbus, say Brittany Pilkington was charged with three counts of murder and jailed Tuesday. The baby was pronounced dead at a hospital.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Pilkington told prosecutors she suffocated her boys with blankets because her husband was paying more attention to them than the couple’s 3-year-old daughter.

Three-year-old daughter Hailey is with a child welfare agency. “Our condolences go out to the remaining family members who have supported this family through a very hard 13 months”.

“Our son’s not breathing”, Brittany Pilkington said meekly to a dispatcher when she called police on April 6 as her husband frantically gave Gavin chest compressions.

On July 22, 2014, 3-month-old Niall Pilkington was found dead by his father when he arrived home from work.

They were the children of 43-year-old Joe and 23-year-old Brittany Pilkington.

Police and the Logan County coroner’s office already were investigating the death of Gavin, who was found dead by his father, Joseph, in April. She eventually told detectives that she killed all three boys, police said. The investigation, which involves the Logan County coroner, the county prosecutor and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, continues. The cause of death was undetermined due to lack of evidence at the scene, police said.
