Grate later led police to a burned-out house in Richland County, where investigators found the remains of a third woman.

It’s unclear whether Grate has an attorney.

Police have charged Grate, 40, with murder in the deaths of Stanley and an unidentified woman, and he has been charged with one count of abduction.

On the 911 call, which was released by the Ashland Ohio Police Department, the woman identified her captor as Shawn Grate and revealed she had known him for over a month. They also found the remains of two other people, police said.

In Tunnell’s Twitter video statement, he said it was his goal to assure that the suspect remain in jail until his trial.

Brittany Lutz, a 20-year-old mom who lives not far from where Grate was staying, shared a similar story.

Grate also reportedly has a son who was born in 1999.

Throughout the call the woman said she was afraid of waking Grate up.

Grate told the judge he previously worked at a grocery store, but now has no financial means or a permanent address and is not collecting any financial help from the state.

As news of the murders filtered through the community, several women have recalled seeing Shawn Grate in the area trying to befriend women and trying to lure them into the house where his latest alleged victim was found.

“Part of me feels like they didn’t like us doing their jobs for them, which really we’re not supposed to do, but since they weren’t going to look for her, we did”, Argil says.

One of the bodies has been identified as Stacey Stanley, from Greenwich, about 17 miles from Ashland.

The case began Tuesday when a woman dialed 911 to report she’d been abducted.
