Dayton police say the Rev. William B. Schooler was shot around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, by his brother Daniel while in his office at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton.
The pastor’s brother, 68-year-old Daniel Gregory Schooler, faces a murder charge to the filed Monday, according to those reports.
William Schooler, a former teacher, principal and school board member, had been serving as president of the Dayton Baptist Ministers Union, WHIO said.
The victim said Schooler began pacing and was acting odd and then struck her, knocking her unconscious.
His brother, Daniel Gregory Schooler, 68, was arrested at the church and taken to the Montgomery County jail.
A Dayton, Ohio, pastor was shot and killed inside his church during Sunday services.
The church congregation of about 20 immediately started fleeing from the building after hearing gun shots.
In 2001, Daniel Schooler was charged with felonious assault with a firearm specification and carrying a concealed weapon, according to court records, which noted that Schooler “may be mentally ill and in need of treatment”.
