Ohio poll: Donald Trump has narrow lead over Clinton

With eight weeks to go before Election Day, Donald Trump holds a narrow lead over Hillary Clinton in OH and the two are locked in a near-even contest in Florida, according to new CNN/ORC polls in the two critical battleground states.

Clinton and Trump are in a virtual dead heat when third-party candidates are included.

Both Johnson and Stein will be on the ballot in OH, though Johnson will be listed as an independent and not as a libertarian. Clinton still leads among nonwhites 63-28 percent and women 50-40 percent, though both those numbers are down from July when Clinton led among nonwhites 64-23 percent and women 53-38 percent.

While Clinton took some time off from the campaign trail to recover, Trump is scheduled to lead a rally in Canton Wednesday evening as he tries to capture the 18 electoral votes up for grabs in the battleground state of Ohio. Her favorability rating there is worse than Trump’s, even among the broader pool of registered voters.

Clinton is viewed favorably by just 36 percent of registered voters in Ohio.

Trump also saw a significant improvement in his support among those earning more than $75,000 a year.

Not all is negative for Clinton, though. Trump’s strong points come on managing the economy, terrorism and immigration.

HuffPost Pollster’s model shows Trump and Clinton effectively tied at about 43 percent.

The currency is “being thumped by Trump”, said Per Hammarlund, the chief emerging-market strategist at SEB SA in Stockholm.

Another poll in a swing-state that shows Trump on top is in Nevada by Monmouth University, whose headline is “Trump Overtakes Clinton” and shows the Republican leading by two percent-44 percent to 42 percent. And no Republican has ever won the presidency without also winning the state.

The Monmouth University poll was conducted by telephone with 406 Nevada residents that are likely to vote in November.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on Tuesday to preview Trump’s upcoming discussion on his health regimen during a taping of the “Dr. Oz Show” this week, Conway dismissed pressure for Trump to release his own full medical records.

It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
