Meyer reiterated Monday that he doesn’t plan to announce a starting quarterback between Jones and Barrett before the Buckeyes open the season against Virginia Tech on September 7.

If you can’t read the T, it states “Eleven Against All”. But that was the extent of his involvement with his old position.

“He is one of the best that I have ever been around”, Meyer said of Perry.

“They’ll want to score 100 points on us, I know that”, Foster said. Barrett isn’t putting himself above any other player. No wild cards. He’s the safer selection, the more proven pick, and it’s easy to forget just how good he was before Ohio State shocked the nation with a national title. He finished fifth in the Heisman voting. “So if you’re in coverage, you better know this guy has got that skill set”. Miller is moving to H-back, but Jones and Barrett are battling for the starting QB spot. If that’s how it’s going to be, then expect Jones and Barrett to follow that lead. Determining who got the first-team reps on Monday was a lot simpler, however, as Barrett and Jones flipped a coin.

While the Buckeyes had a platoon of players that helped contribute on offense, the lack of a go-to-guy alongside Russell meant time and time again he was forced to take things into his own hands. “My relationship with Coach Beck was even better than with Coach Meyer”, said Wallace, a Texas native who had previously been committed to Texas Tech.

The on-field perception is Jones on the field is Jones is the better down-field passer and Barrett is the more clinical fit in Meyer’s system. “But definitely those three games”. It’s hard not to be impressed.

Breakdown: This is the first time I moved Braxton Miller down to zero because he has officially moved completely out of the quarterback room.

Barrett is a true dual threat. Wallace is the first to sing Meyer’s praises when asked why he chose to play in Columbus despite a depth chart that runs deeper than the Ohio River.

Minnesota coach Jerry Kill might’ve summed it up best after Barrett rushed for 189 yards against the Gophers: “The dude can run”.

In fact, only four preseason number one teams have gone on to win the national championship in the last 36 years. But Barrett is deceptively quick and has incredible vision, which makes up for his lack of top-end speed.

I think he’s smart enough to realize he’s going to play at some point this season, and the it’s a very real possibility that Urban Meyer will find a way to player two quarterbacks per game.

Furthermore, Harbaugh and the rest of the Michigan program surely are taking note of Ohio State’s special blocking shed and will use it as motivation for themselves when they hope to dethrone the Buckeyes in their final regular season game.
