Ohio State QB Braxton Miller: ‘Schools reached out, they reached out hard

However, Miller told the dispatch that he is returning to Ohio State with the intention of playing quarterback.

“I’m from Ohio, this is my home state”, Miller told The Dispatch. “This is where I started and this is where I’m going to finish it”.

Miller declined to identify which schools had interest in him, but two that could use some experience at the quarterback position – Alabama and LSU – were among those heavily rumored to be involved.

Redshirt freshman QB J.T. Barrett started all 12 of the Scarlet and Gray’s regular season games in place of Miller, setting 19 school and Big Ten records along the way.

Miller has not only re-affirmed his commitment to the Buckeyes but to the pursuit of being the team’s starting quarterback, though the paper described it specifically as his “initial goal”.

As such, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer will have the most intriguing quarterback battle in the college game on his hands next month when fall practice commences.

Miller had shoulder surgery after Ohio State lost to Clemson in the 2014 Orange Bowl.

“I look on the internet, and I see things forever on my timeline – Instagram, Twitter -that had me transferring to all types of different schools and stuff like that”, Miller said. He said he feels good and is throwing every day but isn’t classified at 100 percent just yet because he doesn’t have full rotation in his arm.

Miller, who boasts a 28-8 record as OSU’s starting QB, said he will welcome the competition for the starting job but he knows that he is “the best athlete in college football”, and if he encounters a competition, he plans to “be smart about things” and “stay looking forward”.

Miller, a rising fifth-year senior, suffered a shoulder injury in late August last season. “I know who I am as an athlete”, Miller said. “I know who I am as a person”. The Buckeyes would go on to win the National Championship. Speculation about a possible move to Florida State ended when the Seminoles added Notre Dame transfer quarterback Everett Golson earlier this offseason.
