OJ Simpson: Why ex National Football League star can never be retried for murder
A construction worker demolishing a house on Simpson’s estate several years ago found the knife and gave it to an off-duty Los Angeles police officer who happened to be near the location of Simpson’s home.

Andrew Neiman, an LAPD media relations officer, said during a news conference Friday that investigators became aware of the knife in February after a retired officer brought it to their attention.
The weapon used in the stabbing deaths was described as a long, serrated knife.
Bailey went on to say that “a police officer holding it has destroyed any credibility you might prescribe to it…any police officer with half a brain would realize this knife could be important”.
A TMZ source stated that police who saw the knife believe that blood residue exists on it, though it has been rusted over time.
More than 20 years after O.J. Simpson’s ex-wife and a friend were stabbed to death, police revealed Friday they are examining a knife that was reportedly found at the home where the former football star was living at the time.
Neiman told KNX the department could consider charges against the retired officer, but because he is retired, there will be no administrative investigation at this point.
The prosecution investigated reports that Simpson, playing a former U.S. Navy SEAL, received “a fair amount of” military training – including the use of a knife- for “Frogmen”.
“I was really surprised … it was quite a shock”, Neiman said.
Because of double jeopardy, Neiman said, O.J. Simpson could not be charged with the murders again.
And who can forget the ongoing crusade of Goldman’s outraged family against Simpson, who’s now imprisoned in Nevada for armed robbery and kidnapping in a separate case.
Did Robert Kardashian dispose of the murder weapon? Neiman confirmed that the department has begun testing the knife for hair, fingerprints, DNA and other biological evidence. “I would think that an LAPD officer – if this story is accurate as we’re being told – would know that anytime you come into contact with evidence, you should and shall submit that”. “That retired motor officer hung on to the knife”, Neiman said.
“A 15-inch knife with a retractable blade that Simpson purchased at Ross Cutlery in downtown Los Angeles briefly tantalized prosecutors in his criminal trial….”
Three co-defendants pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against Simpson, who was convicted and sentenced to 33 years in prison, with the possibility of parole in nine years – meaning he could be released as early as 2017 if he seeks, and is granted, parole.

In the FX miniseries based on the case, “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson”, the late Robert Kardashian is depicted as being Simpson’s loyal friend.
