Ojo facing longer spell out

The teenager, who impressed in the second half of last season when making eight Premier League appearances, had been involved in the Reds’ opening pre-season fixtures, but picked up the injury on the summer tour of the US and is not now expected back until the end of September. Had the player had a falling out? Was his immediate future with the youth and reserves?

It turned out that fitness and injury was the real issue, though the severity of that issue wasn’t known until now, following news that Ojo had a broken bone in his back.

Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo is set to miss around a month of action with a fracture in his back, a club source has told ESPN FC.

The 19-year-old complained of discomfort following the tour of America and missed the pre-season double header against Barcelona and Mainz.

But after undergoing a scan it has been discovered that the 19-year-old will require a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The club do not expect surgery to be required. Since then, he has impressed at every youth level and been a regular for England’s youth teams.
