OKC Fans Petition to Change Town Name From ‘Durant’ to ‘Westbrook’
Ryan Nazari said the State of Oklahoma has a responsibility to change the city’s name because of the way Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder.

That clearly left a mark on the point guard and Westbrook has chosen to extend his stay in Oklahoma and try and drive the franchise to a championship himself.
This likely means that the new campaign for Oklahoma City will be a proving ground for Westbrook now that the Kevin Durant era is done.
Others commenting on the petition were not so optimistic that a name change could heal the pain.
Arguably no one in the National Basketball Association did that better than Westbrook last season, who finished second in the league in assist percentage (he assisted on 49.6 of the Thunder’s field goals when in the game).
It seems safe to say that some Oklahoma City Thunder fans are still holding a grudge against former NBA MVP Kevin Durant.
Donovan, who is heading into his second season as an National Basketball Association head coach after being tremendously successful in college, made an appearance on The Vertical’s podcast with Adrian Wojnarowski and said that Durant was “very, very honest” during the free agency process.
“I don’t know if I ever thought that he was necessarily going to come back”, Donovan said on The Vertical Podcast with Woj (via The Score).
“I thought the meeting that we had went very well”. There started to be murmurs that Durant had told Russell Westbrook and the Thunder that he would be returning, ones that Durant refuted shortly thereafter. “For me, just being able to see the team we have, the guys we have”.
Last year, Griffin only played 35 games and averaged 21.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

Durant may be best known as the home of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where Dennis Rodman played. Westbrook (and Durant) know anything they do that hints at bad blood (wink) will be analyzed to death.
