OKC gets Lauvergne from Nuggets for picks

Forward Joffrey Lauvergne was acquired by the Oklahoma City Thunder, who sent two draft picks to the Denver Nuggets. Lauvergne averaged 7.9 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game in 59 games for the 2015-16 Nuggets, but would have struggled to find playing time in a deep Denver front court this winter. He shot 51 percent from the field. One second round pick was the Thunder’s own, another OKC received in a three-way deal with Memphis and Boston in 2014. He recently played for France in the Olympics. The Nuggets were facing a logjam of young frontcourt talent with the budding Nikola Jokic (20) and Justef Nurkic (21).

This could mean that the Thunder are about to make a series of moves to their roster. He was acquired in a draft-night trade in 2013 with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who selected the France native with the 55th overall pick.

The Thunder roster for the 2016-17 season will feature several new faces, as the team lost Kevin Durant in free agency and traded Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic.
