Oklahoma gains jobs in January

The unemployment rate actually fell in January to 6.7 percent from 6.8percent in December. Low County is expected to be open within the next month.

New Mexico fared better than several nearby states, including Texas and Oklahoma, both of which saw an increase of 0.1 percent.

Montana’s jobless rate was 4.1 percent in January.

Nationwide, jobless rate slipped from 5.7 per cent in January 2015 to 4.9 per cent in January this year.

Indiana’s monthly unemployment rate was revised slightly upward in December, to 4.6 percent, and remained at that rate in January, the state announced Monday morning. Calhoun County had the 23rd highest unemployment rate in the state.

Commissioner Steve Braun says “private sector employment in the Hoosier State has grown by almost 141,000 over the past three years”. “It may have something to do with the holidays”.

The reported showed the state’s civilian labor force up by 6,146 – the result of 10,142 more employed and 3,996 fewer unemployed Arkansans. “We are making significant progress towards that goal”.

Previous year at this time, the county’s unemployment rate was 11.9 percent.

The trade, transportation and utilities sector posted the largest loss in January, shedding 9,300 positions, but down only 800 jobs compared with one year ago. That also was a notable improvement compared to the statewide jobless rate of 5.7 percent in January 2015.

The unemployment rate and ranking for each of Montana’s seven reservations is provided below. But because federal numbers get readjusted at the beginning of each year to account for more in-depth employment data, new population estimates and other calculation changes, the reshuffling pushed MS from third-worst in December to worst in January.
