The stabbing death of Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Mark Costello sent shock waves of grief to his hometown of Bartlesville. “I am praying for his family, friends and staff”.

According to police, witnesses saw the suspect, Christian Costello, continue stabbing Mark Costello from behind.

Christian Costello has had some brushes with the law, and likely had some mental health issues, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Court records show Christian Costello was arrested back in March 2012 after he drove through three road signs before crashing his vehicle. He was also charged with a driving under the influence of drugs charge.

Throughout Oklahoma, politicians who knew Mark Costello are offering their condolences.

Oklahoma City police said Mark Costello, 59, and his son, 26-year-old Christian Costello, had some sort of altercation with each other earlier in the day.
