Old, new Frank-N-Furters Curry, Cox in ‘Rocky Horror’ remake

In the clip, our hapless hero Brad (Ryan McCartan) serenades Janet (Victoria Justice) before proposing in “Dammit, Janet!” Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous, flirtatious mad scientist, is holding an annual Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of ROCKY HORROR – a muscle-bound specimen created exclusively to fulfill Frank’s desires.

He said, “I do, indeed”.

Curry, 70, suffered a stroke four years ago, but his voice is both clear and familiar. “From the first time I saw it, I had never seen anything like it in my whole life.it really is so unique. I offered myself as Dr. Scott because I was already in a wheelchair; they thought the narrator was a better fit”.

Because of his participation in the upcoming musical, it was fair to assume Curry was all-in when it came to Fox’s re-interpretation of the wildly popular flick.

Scott, meanwhile, will be played by Ben Vereen, who said, “I don’t believe we’re remaking anything, but paying tribute to the artists who did it before”. “[Director] Kenny [Ortega] runs a set where you can try anything and it was a lot of fun”.

The special two-hour musical event follows sweethearts JANET (Victoria Justice, co-host of TEEN CHOICE 2016, “Victorious“) and BRAD (Ryan McCartan, “Liv & Maddie”, “Heathers the Musical”), who stumble upon DR. FRANK-N-FURTER’s (Emmy Award-nominated actress Laverne Cox, “Doubt”, “Orange is the New Black”) weird abode.

“Laverne was standing at the piano and was getting ready to sing “Sweet Tranvestite” for the very, very first time, and Tim was sitting at the piano next to the pianist”.

When she finished, Ortega said, Curry was the first to respond, shouting ‘bravo!’ “That’s what we all felt throughout this entire experience working with Tim. We had a ball”.

“Tim joined us right from the start and opened up a dialogue”, said Kenny Ortega, director and choreographer as well as executive producer.

So get your newspapers and toilet paper rolls ready, because even if you watch FOX’s remake in your living room, your participation is key.
