Older Kindles will lose access to the Kindle Store

That means you won’t be able to sync your Kindle with the Amazon store or download any new e-books.

‘If you do not update your device by March 22, 2016, you will receive the following message on your device: Your Kindle is unable to connect at this time.

For most people, this won’t be a big deal; Kindles usually update themselves when connected to the internet. Do you love to download new books every now and then, so that you fill your brain with interesting stories and information regularly?

Amazon’s Kindle range is fantastic, but if you want to stop your reader from becoming a brick, you’ll need to update it by 22 March. If the problem persists, please restart your Kindle from the Menu in Settings and try again.

Affected devices include the 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2012 Kindles, the 2009 Kindle DX, the 2010 Kindle Keyboard, the 2011 Kindle Touch and the 2012 Kindle Paperwhite.

Those who miss the 22 March deadline can still update, but it’s far more of a faff and involves plugging your Kindle into a computer to do so.
