Oldest-Known Panda, Pan Pan, Hits 30
Pan Pan has become the world’s oldest male giant panda living in captivity, reported the Chinese language China News Service.

Panda Panpan is given a birthday cake made of ice and fruit in Chengdu panda base on September 21, 2015.
Pan Pan celebrated his birthday with an ice cake that was decorated with carrots.
“Pan Pan is a heroic father in the panda world”, said Wei Rongping, deputy of the center.
Pan Pan, who turned 30, is the equivalent of 100 in human years, reported People’s Daily Online.
Two of his offsprings, “Tuan Tuan” and “Yuan Zai” were given to Taiwan by China in order to promote friendly ties.
Pan Pan will spend his remaining years in comfort in the center.
“He is in good health but with saggy skin and loose muscles”.
Giant panda “Pan Pan” holds a mascot of the 16th Asian Games, at a zoo in Fuzhou, in south China’s Fujian province, on November . 12, 2010. The average life of the wild giant panda is 15 years. “We still care for them, love them and try to give them a happy life”, said Wei.
Meanwhile, the oldest female giant panda, Basi will celebrate her 35 birthday in two months time.

Giant pandas are considered a national treasure in China, the World Wide Fund for Nature writes on its website, and Pan Pan is even more special because he has reportedly fathered 130 giant pandas. There were 375 pandas in captivity, an increase of 211 from 2003, according to the State Forestry Administration.
