Ole Miss nickel back Tony Conner – trying to make a comeback from two surgeries to fix a torn meniscus suffered in Week 3 past year – gave up a big play in pass coverage in the first quarter, and his playing time diminished as the half wore on. The Seminoles scored 33 consecutive points and built a 39-28 lead with 12:56 left in the fourth.

The Seminoles finished with an identical 8-5 ATS record as the Rebels, winning their games by an average margin of 14.2 points per contest.

Jameis Winston can’t pull off any more second-half comebacks for Florida State, but that doesn’t mean he can’t inspire them. A photo was taken by a school resource officer and was widely circulated on social media as was Leah Paske’s Facebook post thanking Rudolph.

The win gave the ‘Noles their largest comeback victory in school history.

Ole Miss takes on Wofford on Saturday in Oxford, which will be the opening game for the new and improved Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The turnover led to a 3-yard end around touchdown run by sophomore running back Jacques Patrick to put the Seminoles up 29-28 after a failed two-point conversion.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Deondre Francois was a little concerned after his first couple of drives Monday night.

Chad Kelly threw three touchdown passes to Damore’ea Stringfellow, D.K. Metcalf and Evan Engram in the first half to place his team in a solid position before the interval.

Kelly, who is the best quarterback in the SEC and possibly one of the best in the country, threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns, but he also had three interceptions and a fumble. At that point, Francois had notched over 300 yards passing.

So what happened at halftime that led Florida State on that furious rally? Kelly found receiver D.K. Metcalf, who battled a Florida State defensive back for the ball, for a 3-yard score in the second. Swinney, a redshirt freshman, left the game in the second quarter after hurting his left knee on his first carry of the game.

The real reason the Seminoles came back-Freshman QB Deondre Francois.

The defense once again came in clutch, making up for its first half performance.

1 Previous Ole Miss season has kicked off with the Rebels facing a ranked opponent.

Florida State Head Coach Jimbo Fisher is more than impressed with Kelly’s play.
