Olive Garden apologizes to Kansas City police officer asked to leave because

In a Facebook post, Michael Holsworth said he went into the restaurant at Highway 40 and Noland Road to wait for his family to arrive. In it he says, “It is my hope that Olive Garden handles this situation appropriately so no other officer has the same experience I had today”.

Google Maps Street View A hostess at the southeast Kansas City Olive Garden asked Officer Michael Holsworth to leave because of his holstered gun.
WDAF reports that the president of Olive Garden learned of the incident and called Holsworth to apologize.
The officer asked the employee if she was serious, and she told him she was. I had hoped to simply enjoy an uninterrupted birthday meal with my family.
As of Sunday evening, the post had been shared more than 4,300 times.

“This was a misunderstanding”, Olive Garden said in a tweet.
The restaurant chain heard about the incident and reached out to Holsworth to apologize.
Holsworth earned his department’s Distinguished Service Medal in 2014 for being one of three police officers that shot and killed a burglar suspected linked to a triple homicide, according to city records. “Olive Garden welcomes members of law enforcement all the time in the restaurants”.

Rich Jeffers, a spokesman for the Olive Garden, says the restaurant is looking into the incident.
