Arsenal face a hard looking assignment on Wednesday when they travel to Bayern Munich before returning to domestic duty on November 8 when they host local rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby.

“That is where he prefers to play”, said the Arsenal boss.

Arsene Wenger’s plans for his injury-depleted side: “It is always disappointing to lose players but we are equipped first of all with the quality of our squad and we are equipped mentally as well to deal with anything”. This win was a boost of encouragement for Wenger’s struggling side.

Shelvey headed over under pressure and Arsenal were content to get to the break on level terms, even if Campbell turned on Alexis Sanchez’s pass to warm the hands of Fabianski. “I still have 24 hours to decide”. We will find solutions and I have to find the right one.

“I’m just very pleased with the result here”.

“I’ve been involved in many of those situations myself and I think the whole stadium, everyone in it apart from the referee expected a free-kick”, said the former Swansea centre-back and captain.

“I am proud of scoring goals because people like to come to see football to see people try to play but the most important of course was the three points”, the Frenchman said. “Let’s focus on our game, we have made a little difference with a few teams but let’s keep a good balance between hunger, humility and confidence and not look too much at other teams”.

“There will be periods within a season that you don’t perform at your best, but it’s important to put points on the board in those periods and we’ve done that”.
