While the share is up year on year from 43%, the show pea ked with 11.1 million viewers, still slightly short of Strictly.

Olly Murs is still reeling from THAT X Factor gaffe.

“It was a light hearted joke at Olly’s expense”, he added.

The elimination wasn’t a surprise though as she admitted she knew “in her heart” she’d be going home.

The popstar-turned-presenter miscalculated the judges’ votes and prematurely told Monica Michael that she had been eliminated, without realising the vote was in fact tied and needed to be sent to Deadlock. He was then handed an envelope revealing which act had received the fewest public votes – and Monica Michael was sent home, this time for real.

Clearly realising an opportunity to cause as much upset as possible, flop Steve tweeted: “Dr Murs, ‘Sorry you have HIV, actually no, sorry I’m wrong”. It was so tense!! “I’m still learning & hope that never happens again!” I make LOADS in life and on telly…

A message from his account read: ‘Due to unforseen circumstances we are going to have to cancel tonight’s DVD screening. Monica had performed What Is Love from TV show Empire on Saturday (14Nov15), having changed her song at the last minute when her choice, Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down), was deemed inappropriate following the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday (13Nov15). The contestant with the lowest number of public votes would now leave the process.

It was a double blow for the pair who were also told they will not be included in The X Factor live tour. And as Olly predicted, she wasn’t saved.

Scott Ruminate afterward commented: “Harry Styles watches on as Olly Murs begs at the feet of Simon Cowell to keep his occupation…”

When the show was over, Murs sent out a tweet acknowledging his blunder.

The internet was quick to react with claims of a ‘voting fix, ‘ but Olly and Caroline both took to Twitter to explain it was just an honest mistake.
