Olympian Gabby Douglas to Serve as Miss America Judge

Despite taking home her third gold medal, the 2016 Rio Olympics proved to be an emotional rollercoaster for the athlete.

Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas and musician and actress Laura Marano have been added as celebrity judges for the 2017 Miss America competition.

Douglas said she is excited about the event and that “the contestants are a great example of strong women across the U.S.”.

– According to eonline.com, Olympian Gabby Douglas will serve as a judge for the 2017 Miss America Competition.

Additional judges will be announced in the coming weeks.

Previously announced judges include Sara Foster (VH1’s Barely Famous), singer-songwriter Cole Swindell and former Miss America Sharlene Wells Hawkes.

And with her individual victory, she made Olympic history: Douglas became the first woman of color (of any nationality), as well as the first African American gymnast, to win gold in the event.

Miss America takes place Sunday, Sept. 11.
